Beyond the Name

Snug Harbor Wildlife Rescue and Sanctuary is a non-profit organization filled with wildlife rehabilitators and volunteers throughout the wonderful state of South Carolina.

Our rehabilitators and volunteers have experience ranging from just starting out to 20+ years! With a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences, we lean on each other to always ensure that each animal gets the very best care.

Part of getting the best care is making sure our rehabilitators have been properly trained. Our organization hosts classes that all members must attend, as well as in-person training/apprenticeship before they can rehabilitate animals on their own.

Snug Harbor Wildlife Rescue and Sanctuary cares for small mammals such as squirrels, raccoons, rabbits, skunks, beavers, groundhogs, chipmunks, opossums, and deer. We do plan to get permitted to rehabilitate foxes as well.

One of Snug Harbors' promises is that we go above and beyond to make every experience a good experience.  Even if it is a situation that is out of our scope (ex: we do not rehabilitate birds or reptiles), we will always help find a rehabber or facility that can take of the situation you are dealing with.

Snug Harbor Wildlife networks with other rehabbers and facilities throughout healthcareof the Southeast to work together for these animals who need our assistance.

We also have numerous veterinarians that we utilize throughout the state for our health care needs. We are always looking for more qualified wildlife veterinary offices in the state to assist us.

Having a working relationship with DNR is an amazing asset to be able to assist them with calls they get about animals in need, as well as the calls where we need their assistance on various matters. They help ensure that we are up to date on current issues, guidelines, and permits for wildlife.

Wildlife rehabilitation is full of teamwork and group efforts between all of these organizations. We are proud of the relationships that we have established and will continue to establish as our organization grows.
